Juvelook® and Sculptra® are both injectable treatments designed to improve skin appearance and stimulate collagen production. Juvelook® k contains poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA), while Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).
Both PDLLA and PLLA act as a scaffold within the skin, promoting fibroblast activity and encouraging new collagen formation (neocollagenesis), which gradually improves skin texture, firmness, and elasticity.
Originally, Sculptra® was developed to stimulate significant collagen production in patients with substantial facial volume loss, such as those with AIDS. However, issues with particle size irregularities, distribution, and nodule formation led to the introduction of PDLLA, a poly-lactic acid variant. Products like Juvelook® and Lenisna® now use smaller, more uniform particles combined with hyaluronic acid (HA) to enhance skin hydration and quality.
Juvelook® and Sculptra® can be used together or alongside other treatments like Rejuran or dermal fillers, although results vary. Consulting an aesthetic provider is crucial to develop a treatment plan tailored to individual needs.
